Abram Games

In our lecture of Abram Games his daughter Naomi Games came in to give a talk on his life and his work, Abram Games worked with an airbrush which had originally been designed for photographers to edit their photos to make his posters. Abram Games is a famous British graphic designer and his poster have a minimal approach but with a lot of meaning behind them, they portray their message very well. Abram liked to work alone so he could have complete control over the end result of his work, it is interesting to also find out that he worked for the army creating posters for them to display information to the soldiers. Also that Abram suggested that they need colour for them to work better and stand out instead of being black and white. During this time Abram became the only official war poster artist for the British army, we also learnt that Abram wanted his work to be so simple that even a child could understand it. When he had kids he would test this with every new poster he created to see if they got the message behind the posters. This lecture gave an interesting look into Abram Games and why he designed his posters in such a way and also a informative insight on him as a person which we wouldn't of got without his daughter coming in to talk to us about him.
